Cedar and I had the privilege of attending a Birth Doula Workshop hosted by Jeannie Baron in Chanhassen; it was absolutely amazing and insightful. Being a nurse I opted to forgo hiring a doula, I thought I learned everything there was to know about the birthing process (prenatal, during and postpartum). Whoa, was I wrong.
Both of my births ended up cesarean, both of which had a beautiful ending: handsome, healthy baby boys, but were not a part of my birth plan.
What I learned about birthing as a woman, this what are bodies are made for, we can do this with minimal interventions.
Birth doulas are specially trained for this moment in your journey.
I wish I would’ve had a doula for my pregnancies. ❤️ Miigwech (thank you) to Jeannie and the women who attended this workshop. This is an amazing gift and I can’t wait to share it. Naomi Defoe, Birth Doula

“This workshop exceeded my expectations by far. It was an absolute joy to learn from Jeannie while attending her workshop. She’s such an inspiring and wise woman with so much wonderful knowledge to share. She made everyone feel very comfortable and welcome as she created the perfect space for learning the art of being a Doula. She made sure to answer any questions we had very thoroughly. We all learned so much and it will be a weekend I never forget. I’m so excited to start my work as a Doula and I highly recommend this workshop for anyone interested in becoming a Doula. You will not be disappointed!”

From day one, Mrs. Jeannie made the class environment feel like a big family coming together to learn new information! She made everything so easy to learn and comprehend. As a black woman, there's always a worry in the back of the mind that you'll be treated differently because you look different. Mrs. Jeannie was one of the most compassionate, comforting, and kind spirits I have had the honor of meeting. I don't believe I would have had this experience with any other instructor. I would take this class again just because she's teaching it.

What an incredible opportunity to have been taught by Jeannie! Jeannie was so informational, motivating, encouraging, honest and kind. The environment she created for us to learn was exquisite and I only wish we could have had more time with her since we just barely reached the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her breadth of knowledge and experience. I left this workshop confident in my abilities to be a doula and eager to learn more as I start assisting families on their birth journeys. 1,000,000/10 would recommend!

I have attended Jeannie’s workshop in February 2021. It was amazing three days, filled with lots of useful information. It was safe place to share personal stories, we were crying, laughing, studying, working in groups, doing deep relaxations, practicing all different tools that we just have learned. I had my 4 months old son with me and felt so supported. I met so many wonderful women that are caring, kind and mindful. I can’t wait to start my journey. Jeannie is such a wonderful person. She was listening to us, answering every single question that we asked. Every day she had a new healthy snack for us (with GF and Dairy free options). If you want to become a doula, Jeannie’s workshop will be the best way to achieve your goal. No one can teach like her. I am very thankful and grateful to be part of this workshop.

As a 4 time mother, with 2 home births, I didn’t think there was much I hadn’t already heard about birth and comfort measures. Starting from required reading, throughout childbirth education and doula 101, and continuing in ongoing support Jeannie’s has surprised me with amazing insights that help me to see birth and birthing women even more positively. She helps you understand how to work with mother, partner and medical personnel and instills respect for each of their unique roles in birth. She presented evidence based information in interactive and fun ways that make everything so memorable. This training is a delight and a great start into the rich community of birth professionals! Thank you so much for your dedication and sharing your joy in this work Jeannie!

It was my privilege to have had Jeannie as my teacher. I really identified with her examples as well as her soft spoken nature. I literally soaked up every bit of knowledge she shared. Jeannie is an excellent teacher and presenter. I loved the hands on practice we had. The other women in the class were amazing as well. Each person brought their own unique qualities and we learned from each other. It’s clear she is an exemplary doula as well. I’m proud to say I’m a DONA doula trained by Jeannie Baron!

I feel so honored and proud to have become a DOULA along side these incredible women. We learned from one of the best, Jeannie Baron, and if you have any interest in the doula world and supporting a woman through one of her most life changing moments, do not hesitate to learn from her as well.

Jeannie is a wonderful trainer and I had a great time in her class! She had us feeling connected to the material and our work as doulas, as well as to each other in the class. She provides an engaging and encouraging environment and we were able to leave the class feeling confident in our new role as a doula. Jeannie truly cares about the work she does and it’s evident in how supportive she is of her students.

Jeannie Baron you are such a beautiful human! I definitely didn't want class to end because you are absolutely phenomenal! Thank you for one of the best experiences of my life! ❤️❤️❤️❤️”

I signed up for a doula class to attend my daughter’s labor and delivery. I fully anticipated on being bored out of mind and couldn’t wait to have it behind me. Well, much to my surprise, I had the time of my life! I guess, the only experience I can liken it to was going to camp with all of my friends and being sad to leave at the end of the week. Jeannie made the hours fly by with her extensive knowledge and interesting, engaging teaching style. We laughed, cried, learned and encouraged one another. I have never felt so empowered as a woman and now a trained Doula. The class opened up my heart and my mind to things I had not even considered. Thank you Jeannie so much for following your passion and conveying that so eloquently to us.

Attending the Birth Doula Workshop with Jeannie was wonderful. She had a clean welcoming space. She created a safe space and made all of us feel very comfortable even though we were all different. Some of us were moms and others did not know a single birth story to share and thanks to Jeannie we were all able to learn at the same pace and on a level playing field. We had clear information and anytime we needed additional resources she knew where to find them and sent them to us on the group page. She was candid, lively and passionate in an inspiring way. All of us women left so excited to be a Doula and wanting to use each other as resources. I know I can use Jeannie as a resource moving forward and am grateful for the three days with packed information ranging from food tips she has learned while doing overnights all the way to how to file my paperwork. I felt passionate to help women after experiencing this and am so grateful for the time to come. It is also important to mention I was able to bring my 3 month old. Jeannie offered a comfortable space to sit with her, a space to leave her things and provided encouragement to me as I began a new job while having a baby.

Jeannie Baron thank you ♡ you are truly the best and lit my passion even more! I can't wait to learn more from you☺️

Jeannie went above and beyond all my expectations of what this workshop would be like! I typically zone out frequently, but she had me captured the entire weekend! I wasn't sure how I would feel confident to be a doula after one short weekend, but somehow Jeannie instilled a passion and confidence in me. I appreciate how Jeannie cares so much about us as people and as doulas and desires to help us grow in serving others! Marisa Kleven

This class was more than I expected! The way Jeannie teaches really allows you to learn, be hands on and feel confident stepping into your role as a doula. You can tell she has a genuine love for what she does. I loved this workshop! Ebony G
